The Standards Behind B's Botanicals: Clean Beauty, Sustainable Products & Responsible Production
Share
Better skincare isn't only about what goes into the bottle. It's also about the decisions made before the product ever reaches your hands.
At B's Botanicals, we believe thoughtful beauty should consider the complete journey of a product, from formulation and ingredient selection to production, packaging and transportation.
That's why we choose manufacturing partners whose standards align with our approach to more responsible beauty. One of those partners holds B Corp Certification and works to a rigorous set of clean formulation and sustainable production standards. This certification and these standards belong to our manufacturing partner; they do not mean that B's Botanicals or individual B's Botanicals products are B Corp Certified. Rather, they form part of the standards and practices we consider when choosing the partners behind our products.
1. Responsible Business: B Corp Certification.
B Corp Certification is one of the most rigorous and respected third-party standards in business today. To achieve it, a company must meet verified standards across five key areas: governance, workers, community, environment and customers.
B Corp Certified businesses are legally required to consider the impact of their decisions on all stakeholders, not just shareholders. They are re-certified every three years to ensure ongoing accountability, and they join a global community of businesses using business as a force for good.
When our manufacturing partner operates under this certification, it means the business practices behind your B's Botanicals product are held to standards that go well beyond regulatory minimums, covering how employees are treated, how the environment is protected, and how business decisions are made.
2. Clean Formulation: Our clean beauty standard.
Our manufacturing partner follows a clean beauty formulation framework built around ingredient safety, transparency and responsible sourcing. Under this standard, every product formulated must meet the following requirements:
- 100% cruelty-free. No animal testing at any stage of development.
- Vegan formulations. With a stated exception for beeswax, where used.
- No parabens.
- No phthalates.
- No SLS sulfates.
- No benzene or benzene derivatives.
- No silicones or siloxanes.
- Restricted preservatives. Only approved preservative systems are permitted.
- Restricted pigments. Only screened and approved pigments are used.
- Fragrance requirements. All fragrance materials must meet defined safety standards.
- Full ingredient transparency. Complete ingredient disclosure is required.
- Ingredient screening. Every ingredient is evaluated for both safety and environmental impact before use.
This isn't a marketing checklist. It's a formulation framework that shapes what goes into each product from the very beginning of development, long before it reaches production.
3. Sustainable Products: A more thoughtful approach to production.
Beyond certification and formulation, our manufacturing partner applies a broader set of principles to how products are made and brought to market. These include:
- Environmentally conscious production and processing. Minimising environmental impact throughout the manufacturing process.
- Responsible use of natural resources. Raw materials are sourced and used with efficiency and care.
- Green formulation principles. Favouring ingredients and processes with lower environmental footprints.
- Biodiversity considerations. Ingredients are selected with awareness of their impact on natural ecosystems.
- No GMO ingredients. Genetically modified organisms are excluded from formulations.
- Recyclable packaging. Product packaging is designed to be recyclable.
- Recycled transportation packaging. Materials used for shipping and transit are made from recycled content.
These principles reflect a view of beauty that extends beyond the product itself, one that asks what kind of footprint a product leaves from the moment its ingredients are selected to the moment its packaging is disposed of.
What does that mean for your B's Botanicals product?
It means that when you pick up a B's Botanicals product, you're not only looking at the ingredients printed on the label. You're also looking at a product created within a wider framework of formulation, sourcing, production and packaging standards.
We believe that's what Thoughtfully Formulated should mean.
Not just a clean ingredient list. Not just a recyclable bottle. But a considered approach to every decision that shapes a product before it ever reaches you.
A note on certification.
We want to be clear: B Corp Certification belongs to our manufacturing partner. B's Botanicals is not B Corp Certified, and individual B's Botanicals products do not hold this certification.
What this certification does represent is our commitment to choosing partners who are held to meaningful standards, standards we believe are worth understanding and worth sharing with you.
Because we think you deserve to know not just what's in your skincare, but where it comes from and how it's made.
